I was never that much into fashion until I started working in the industry more... My goodness, people in the fashion industry are fashionable. Who knew?
For me, fashion was like one of those books recommended over and over again by an overzealous reader when your care factor is less than good... finally when you make a big sigh and lazily pick it up - you discover you can't quite put it down.
I can't bring myself to spend the dollars required on high-end fashion, not that I could afford to; but even if I could, retirement upon Italy's Amalfi Coast seems more appealing than a Chanel jacket that might last me two seasons.
BUT... I do buy the odd designer-ish piece, and when I do I must say I do get a tad giddy. I'm usually pleasantly surprised to discover that quality fashion is, well, of excellent quality. Zippers don't break, shirts sit right, and dresses last a lifetime.
And these days I love to look at fashion and emulate the styles with much cheaper alternatives... there's a real art to that and I'm working on it.
My current muse?
Marc Jacobs; incredible designer in his own right and Creative Director for Louis Vuitton.
Oh Marc, we love you.
It's all about the unfussed block colours, geometric femininity and slight undertones of aggression.
It's feisty and I like it.
That's why I love Marc all the more for giving us Marc by Marc Jacobs - one of the best diffusion lines in the business.
It's basically him, but cheaper. Still not cheap... but cheaper.
So, happy Monday Marc and all you fashionistas.
